One section of this website is the online home of the Dog Island Conservation District, an independent political subdivision of the State of Florida. The District encompasses all but the western end of the island.

The guide is an unofficial compendium of information compiled and maintained by Dog Islanders for the benefit of visitors, new owners, and those considering property on this unique Florida island.
